Stuff Steph Gives Me (August 19, 2011) [Where's WALL-E?]

I love this.

Look!  Maximilian!  V.I.N. CENT!  R2D2!  C3PO!  Da Terminator!

Where's WALL-E?

Hopewell Studios says:
"'Where's WALL-E?' art from Geekings Cards
A new piece of artwork by Richard Sargent, featuring a huge crowd of robots from movies, television and more. Can you find WALL-E among them?"
"Win a signed poster print of Richard's 'Where's WALL-E?' art! How many robots can you identify? Use the guide picture to name as many as you can. The most correct robots will win a poster. Answers to richard@hopewellstudios.com. Closing date for entries 31st August 2011."
Fun stuff on that site.  I also like the Columbo and Jaws cards.

  1. INORITE!

I can't remember half the names of them but the memories it brought back of Saturday morning cartoons and bad movies. :D

  2. How many of them do you have as avatars? I know I've seen at least one of them in your closet and I would not be surprised to learn you have a Dalek in there too.

Yeah, it certainly is a fun nostalgia trip. I immediately recognized the droids from "Star Wars" and "The Black Hole" and I was amused to see Woody Allen in the mix.

    ;-)

I can't find Crow T. Robot from MST3K. He's gotta be in there somewhere.

I know # 175 and I think it will come to me soon as will the Burl Ives robot, though it would probably help if I stopped calling him that.

It would really help to have a way to visually eliminate them as we name them. lol

"The teaser displays a boy (played by Where the Wild Things Are's Max Records) and his one Christmas wish: He wants a "Blinky" toy. The teaser is stylish, artistic and incredibly creepy. If I were to pitch it I'd call it a futuristic Child's Play."

"If you guys watched the film, the boy is so annoying it serves Blinky right to kill him."

"It wasn't the robot's fault, Blinky was just doing what he was told. The kid was a brat and should have been more careful with his words."

"This short trailer will have you set on edge and creep you out for reasons you just can't quite understand. Outside of the general description that it's a movie "about a boy and his robot" not much else is known about the indie sci-fi flick. It definitely has our attention now though."

In a pointless nod to traditionalism they paired the ROBOT dog with the departments best dog trainer; I guess in case Blitz makes friends with a regular dog that needs training. The most disturbing aspect of this pairing is that Bowser (:Rex Pointer of the Chicago PD K-9 Unit) feels the need to wear the suit one uses to protect themselves from vicious dog attacks; suggesting he knows blitz could go off anytime and there is not god damn thing he can do about it."

  142. # 153 is Robotman

"I remember watching the Robotman animated special years before I read the Robotman cartoons. It was called Robotman and Friends and portrayed Robotman as a loveable little robot with a heart on his chest, flying through the clouds with his little propeller on his head. Sort of like R2-D2 meets the Care Bears. Looking back, I imagined that must have been the creator of the comic strip's worst nightmare - his edgy, funny comic strip being transformed into a sappy, silly, cutesy special. But it turns out it wasn't. When I did the research for this flashback, I discovered it was the other way around. The character of Robotman was created for the toys and the animated special, and the comic strip was just supposed to be a part of the media blitz. That explains where the heart on his chest came from. It turned out that the comic strip survived while the stuffed doll vanished into obscurity."

MOTHERFUCKER! I KNEW IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE THAT!

The hover robot is sooooo Master of the Universe-ish but I thought it was from She-ra.

Interesting... I can barely remember C.O.P.S. but I can clearly remember the dog, in fact I thought it was from Inspector Gadget, if not that then maybe Ghost in the Shell (series), it just seemed to fit the memories of it anyway.

Fucked if I know how many are left, you're the one keeping tabs. :D
